Ribbon Cutting Held for New Kennett KIA Monument at Courthouse Square

On May 19, 2026, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Dunklin County Courthouse Square in Kennett for the new Kennett KIA Monument, honoring Kennett service members who were killed in action while serving our nation.

The ceremony was coordinated by VFW Post 5443 and Kennett American Legion Post 66, with local supporters and several of the donors who helped make the monument possible in attendance. The monument now stands as a lasting tribute to the courage, service, and sacrifice of those from Kennett who gave their lives in defense of our country.

VFW Post 5443 and Kennett American Legion Post 66 extend sincere appreciation to the donors and community members whose generosity made this memorial possible. Their support helps ensure that the names and sacrifices of Kennett’s fallen heroes will continue to be remembered by future generations.

The new monument is located at the Dunklin County Courthouse Square in Kennett and is open for the public to visit and reflect.

We are proud to see this important addition to our community, and we remain committed to honoring the memory of those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
